Hiatus GONE!

Hey Kiddos,

Once again, sorry for the super, extremely long break between posts, I've been a busy little bee lately. For starters, I graduated in September! Whoo! Congrats to me and my two buddies Heather Berry and Jason Barnes. We led the portfolio show, and even though it rained, and rained, and rained, we did our thing, and now we're big ol' adults in the big awesome world. Heather was right there next to me, all through our senior classes, and if it wasn't for her constant happiness and upbeat attitude, I would've hit rock (graduation) bottom. Thanks girl! Go check out her work, she is one heck of a 3D modeler and all around artist. She's going to Cali within the month of November, so look her up! Jason was right there next to her, and if it wasn't for his quick one liners and "stache," portfolio would've been a constant state of stress! Love you guys, and good luck from here on out!

Continuing on with portfolio, I won all three awards! Best in Show. Outstanding Academic Award. Outstanding Contributions to the Department. Whoo, that was one crazy week. We had set up, awards, and finally, the show.

JOB UPDATE:

I'm working with Radical Axis/Floyd County as an illustrator for their new show called Archer. Its going to be released on FX Networks in January 2010, so remember that and check it out when it shows. Its quite funny; definately for adults.


TOY UPDATE:

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd..... my newest toy design. I painted a "munny" doll for my dear friend Shadrick, who has also helped me through the tough times of school and life. Love ya Shaddy!

So, since I've been dead from blogger lately, I felt a post was in bad need.

Graduation has a tendency to become entirely consumed with my time, setting up packaging, website, demo reel, biz cards, and all that fancy stuff.

I do plan on designing and printing off any where from 50 to 75 postcards with 3 different designs, that people will be able to take. Something I like to do to give back to the community. lol just kidding, but I'll have those printed for the show as well.

Space-Tastic!

So, here are images from a part from the Pre-Production part of my Portfolio:
They are space people, living in a world half-inspired by Duck Dodgers and the 24th 1/2 Century, and half-inspired by the Jetsons. I haven't posted the other part yet, but the buildings go down straight, not into ground, but into the ocean, where other aliens of the water and mer-people live, in a technological water world. It's weird, I know, but it makes sense when you see the drawings. Sort of. Its a cartoon, things like that happen.

Late Airbrush

I also haven't posted any airbrush work for sometime now, and forgot I had this one last painting. Chris's brother Nick wanted a Batman license plate around the time The Dark Knight came out, so at work I painted him one based off of the new Batman Begins logo.

This was my latest airbrush project that I did late summer of 2008.


I created the stencil and textured the paint for inside the bat. It was a little tricky at first, but really fun.

I've been busy!

But all I can say is that its all well worth the time and energy.

This second set is for the final project/senior project to go in my portfolio. I have many character designs that will be scanned, completed, and uploaded soon!


BTW, its a space world on top, and the buildings are set on poles that extend down into the ocean, which is another world full of mermaids and a different sort of technology.

Guess I'm It Now

You know, for the longest time, I've seen people tagged on their blogs, and I was just waiting to see when I was going to get tagged. Guess I'm "it" now, thanks to Luckie! Its all in good fun though.

The rules: I share 7 things about myself you don't already (possibly) know, and then I tag 7 others to do the same.

1. My name Thanh Chi has no real cool meaning like energy, spirit, whatever you guys are mixing up with those Chinese meanings. It simply means "cute, little girl", and yes guys, that's the meaning in Vietnamese. My momma named me.
   
2. I am a really big book worm. I read all of the Harry Potter books in 2 months, and that was in the middle of a busy quarter. Also, when I finish a book, if I like it, I'll re-read it again a couple of months later and still get excited and sucked into the storyline, regardless of the fact that I already know what's going to happen.
3. My grandparents wanted my parents to push me to be a doctor so I can be successful and comfortable financially ever since I started middle school. Thankfully, my parents pushed me to do whatever makes me happy, which is my art.
4. I'm a bit stubborn, so a lot of new things I try, I usually try to do figuring out on my own. Then when I get in more deep or get stuck, I finally do my full research and adapt my ways so it does work.
   
5. Technically, I am 5' 1" and a half.
6. I really do love skirts. I may be a tomboy at times, but there is definitely a girly girl in me.
   
7. I love to watch horror and zombie movies because I love the thrill I get from them.
